Disclaimer

What we publish and what we do not

The Miptz blog is written by working retouchers and front-end engineers. Recommendations are tested on real client work before they reach the article. None of that makes the blog a substitute for legal counsel on copyright clearance, model releases or pre-press contracts. For any of those, talk to a qualified professional.

1. General

The information, articles and software tools published on miptz.com by Miptz Pixel Converter (“Miptz”) are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. While we make every reasonable effort to keep the content accurate and up to date, Miptz does not represent or warrant that the content is complete, current, accurate, error-free or suitable for any specific purpose. Use of, or reliance on, the content of this site is at your own risk. Where this Disclaimer is read together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy, the Terms govern in case of any conflict.

2. Not professional advice

The Service offers technical guidance about image formats, compression and processing, but nothing on miptz.com should be interpreted as legal, accounting, regulatory, medical or other professional advice. Our editors are not lawyers and the articles you read here are not a substitute for the personalised counsel of a qualified professional. If you intend to make a decision that has legal, financial or commercial consequences — for example regarding intellectual-property licensing, copyright clearance under the laws of France, or compliance with the EU GDPR (Règlement général sur la protection des données) and the French « Loi Informatique et Libertés » — you should consult an appropriately licensed professional in your jurisdiction.

2.a. Editorial intent

Articles on miptz.com are written by an in-house team of image-processing engineers and editorial staff. We aim to be opinionated where the topic supports it, and explicit about our experience-base where the topic is contested. The recommendations you see are based on workloads we have actually run; they are not theoretical claims, but they are also not guaranteed to map onto your specific use case. You should always test our recommendations on your own assets before adopting them in production.

3. Output is not guaranteed

Miptz performs server-side conversions through the Imagick PHP extension and client-side cropping through HTML5 canvas. While we test these tools regularly, we cannot promise that every output file will be byte-perfect for every workflow. Differences in colour space handling, EXIF orientation, ICC profile embedding or transcoding behaviour may occur depending on your browser, source file or target format. You should always inspect critical output files in your final destination (CMS, design tool, marketplace) before publishing.

4. Third-party content

The Service may include links to third-party websites and may embed third-party advertising delivered through the Google AdSense / DoubleClick network. The content, opinions and offerings of those third parties are not under our control, and we make no warranty of any kind regarding their accuracy, legality or appropriateness. Any reliance you place on third-party material accessed through miptz.com is strictly at your own risk. We are not responsible for any harm or loss caused by your interaction with third-party websites or advertisers.

5. Compatibility and availability

Miptz is offered free of charge and on an “as is”, “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the Service will run uninterrupted, that bugs will be corrected, that the website will be free of malware or that conversions will succeed in every situation. Some advanced output formats — PSD, AI, HEIC — depend on optional Imagick delegates that may not be installed on every server, and the corresponding conversions may therefore be temporarily unavailable.

6. No endorsement

References to third-party products, services or trademarks (such as JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, PDF, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and similar) are made for descriptive purposes only and do not imply endorsement by, or affiliation with, those rights holders. All trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Miptz Pixel Converter, its founders, employees, contractors, advisors and partners shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Service. This includes but is not limited to lost data, lost revenue, lost goodwill, business interruption, regulatory penalties or any other commercial damages, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

8. Errors and omissions

If you spot an error in any article, technical statement or piece of guidance on miptz.com, please report it to support@miptz.com. We are happy to investigate and, where appropriate, correct or annotate the original publication. Material updates are noted on the article itself.

9. Regulatory framework

Use of the Service is subject to the laws of France and to the EU GDPR (Règlement général sur la protection des données) and the French « Loi Informatique et Libertés » in respect of the personal data we process. Where guidance on data-protection issues is required, the supervisory authority is the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés (CNIL). References in articles to the General Data Protection Regulation, the UK Data Protection Act, the Swiss FADP or other comparable regimes are provided for educational purposes only and do not amount to a binding interpretation of those laws. Where you need a legally binding interpretation, consult a qualified solicitor, attorney or Datenschutzbeauftragter in your jurisdiction.

10. Tools are not certified for safety-critical use

The conversion, resize and crop tools are intended for general office, marketing, design and editorial workflows. They are not certified for use in safety-critical applications, including but not limited to medical imaging, forensic-evidence preparation, aviation, defence, or any application where the integrity of the output may have a direct impact on human safety. If your workflow has such a requirement, please use a tool that has been validated for the relevant standard.

11. Acceptance

By continuing to use miptz.com you acknowledge that you have read this Disclaimer in full and that you accept its terms. If you do not accept any portion of this Disclaimer, please discontinue use of the Service. The terms set out here are intended to operate alongside, and not in derogation of, your statutory rights as a consumer in France, which remain unaffected.
